Energy usage is going to be one of the biggest problems we will face in the future in all aspects of our lives. While reducing fuel consumption is a key aspect of success, another way to reduce energy cost is to get an energy audit. Most electric companies offer this service to see where you could improve on energy usage.
A personal goal to consider is to really know all of your employees. Sometimes we may wonder what makes one company more successful than another. It boils down to the employees you lead. Well-trained employees, employees that are happy and know the goals of the company are what make a company successful. It doesn’t matter what technology you bring in or how grandiose your goals are without them.
Your employees are the ones that can actually make things happen.
Sometimes at work an employee might tell me we have a problem. Is it really a problem or a challenge? It’s all about the approach. If you don’t do anything, then it’s a problem. Many times in life you will experience momentary setbacks that may seem terrible but the trick is to learn from them, helping yourself and others, too. This is a great tool for a manger — looking for the solutions rather than being part of the problem.
If you feel you are only going through the motions at work, just “mailing it in” so to speak, now is the time to make changes. Make a conscious effort to challenge yourself daily. It will benefit you and your company.
