Whether it's dealing with a coved backsplash in solid surface, leveling a seam in quartz surfacing or joining two pieces of granite, seaming equipment is a must-have for any surfacing shop worth its weight in adhesives. With that in mind, we have contacted suppliers of such equipment and here you will find information on some of the best-selling and most helpful equipment.
Betterley Surface Leveling Router is designed to remove excess adhesive from solid surface joints and seams. By cutting rather than sanding, the adhesive removal is many times quicker and the potential of overheating the seam by sanding is eliminated. An offset drive and fine adjustments allow the tool to cut up to a 90-degree wall or be adjusted to prevent cutting into a cove, making the tool suitable for cleaning up field seams. The front-mounted cutter also allows leveling of any size inlay or repair and removes protruding edges of built-up pieces.

CourterCo Savannah offers the parallign seam clamp, developed to quickly clamp and align solid surface materials in near perfect alignment by connecting two venture vacuum pods with precision linear bearings. The bottoms of the pods are machined flat and pull down onto the two surfaces with about 275 lbs. per pod. A twist of the spring-loaded cam pulls the seam together and finishes the job. It even works on vertical seam tables. Each kit includes four seam clamps connected with polyurethane coil hoses to an air manifold mounted in a protective case. One air connection is all that is required to power the set. The carrying case makes it easy to set up and store the clamps.

The Dani Clamp Deck Seam clamping method, from Dani Design, is inexpensive and easy to use to achieve flat seams every time. It doesn’t matter how wide the pieces are. Whether you need to add ½ in. or 20 in. by using Dani Clamps and seam alignment blocks, or the melamine board method for clamping your seams, you will achieve flat seams. This reduces the amount of sanding needed to make the seam look perfect and eliminates the chance of creating a dip in the material at the seam from oversanding.

Federal Saw & Tool offers the Bessey PS55 Seaming Clamps, a seaming tool for solid surface and other material installation. Precision machined, the clamps have vacuum cups to instantly secure to any smooth, nonporous surface such as solid surface, laminate, marble and granite. The cups are made from rugged high-pressure aluminum alloy with high-quality rubber diaphragms. They use a vacuum operating lever that activates and locks the vacuum seal on the work surface. They are completely portable and use a quick-release system. The clamps have leveling toggles, reducing the need for sanding. A work hardened steel spindle draws deck seams together. They have comfortable oversized wooden handles, and cold drawn guide rods that create a solid, rigid frame for supporting vacuum cups and leveling toggles, minimizing panel lifting. They are also convenient for field seams when air source is not an option.
