Tile has been a staple in kitchens and baths for years, in everything from wall cladding to flooring to countertops and backsplashes, and it isn't going anywhere anytime soon. And with the surge in popularity of stone, nature's beauty in the form of stone tile is making appearances in just about any and every room in a home or business. In this issue we’ve put some extra emphasis on this surfacing material and have contacted a variety of tile suppliers and got the lowdown on what is new and interesting. While it would be impossible to come up with an exhaustive list, there should be something here that will spark the interest of any fabricator.
AVP, developed by Antolini Luigi & C., is a new technology which strengthens and maintains the beauty in slabs of exclusive and exotic materials. The Antolini Vacuum Process is a two-phase vacuum treatment, which treats the blocks with high-quality resins in the first phase, and repeats the process with the sawn slabs for the second phase. Highlighting the color and brightness, the process makes onyx, breccia, alabaster and many other materials available in large size slabs as well as tile. These stones are now available for any project with the AVP mark, and the result is more stones available for the market.
