Custom-sized Solid Surface Sheets
A military housing project required 500 showers. Avonite Surfaces produced custom sized ¼-in. sheets of 60- by 78-in. and 60- by 30-in. to provide a ready to install shower wall system. If standard size sheets of 30- by 98- by ¼-in. had been used, it would have create 24 sq. ft. of waste per shower. That would equate to 12,583 sq. ft. of waste. Natural Stone Panels
Fujian Quanzhou Wanlong Stone Co. Ltd. is a specialized manufacturer and exporter of Light-weight and Ultra-thin natural Stone Panels. Natural marble and granite (3 to 7 mm) is bonded to light weight and flexible material. Recycled Surfacing
Four new luxurious colors have been added to the Zodiaq Terra Collection, available from DuPont, Calm Springs, Warm Taupe, Moroccan Morning and Mossy Green. The new colors offer a palette of options and contain at least 50 percent pre-consumer recycled glass. The colors will be submitted for certification review by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). The new color options are GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified and have received the GREENGUARD for Children & Schools Certification. |

Alternative Surfacing
Green Mountain Soapstone offers soapstone surfacing available in both Original and Ice Flower styles. The product's durable, dense surface is designed to possess all the beauty of granite or marble with none of the drawbacks. Soapstone is inert, meaning that acids and alkalis won't etch it as they will other stone surfaces. The product is also impervious to temperature changes. It is available in exceptionally long and wide slab sizes, and standard 30-in.-wide slabs. Seams can be made tight, smooth and inconspicuous. Sinks are available in three styles: Chicago Wright, Boston Williams and New England Double Bowl. |

Quartz Surfacing
EOS Solid Surface has offered a "quartz" line in addition to its original solid surface line, which continues to blur the aesthetics between solid surface and stone. New spring colors will include organic shades with a matte finish. Concrete appearances in popular color lines (coffees, creams and other neutrals) will be consistent with new design trends. The company will also introduce a new large kitchen single bowl. |

Hanwha Living & Creative Corporation (Hanwha L&C), has announced its new HanStone collection, Ruscello. The nfive-color collection joins the existing surface line. The new line gives the colors depth and clarity. Made from natural quartz, the product is bacteria-, stain- and heat-resistant products. It is non-porous and requires no sealing. The ease of maintenance and 10-year warranty provides assurance of product durability. The color palette includes Aspen, Basento, Liscia, Piave and Teslin. |

Solid Surface Material
Diamond Surfaces offers 1 ¼-in. solid surface sheets stocked 30- by 120- by 1 ¼-in. The company stocks 1 ¼-in. sheets in 22 colors with custom colors and sizes produced for as few as eight sheets. Up to 10 percent of a solid surface order will go towards freight in areas where distributors are not yet established. The product is suitable for fabricators that no longer want to perform gluing and support work and for customers who desire on-site fabrication. Being able to puzzle piece this material together has created many opportunities to eliminate complications and human error while maintaining the integrity of the completed project. |

Solid Surface Material
SpectraStone, made by Spectra Design Inc., combines the performance of solid surface with a new look. Instead of granules, SpectraStone particles are long, twisted shaped ribbons that bring depth, texture and richness to the solid surface sheets. Using a patent-pending process the particles are made under tightly controlled conditions. The particles are then incorporated into the solid surface sheets, which can be seamed and worked just like any other solid surface material. |
