With only one operator using a hand-held pendant or wireless remote, the equipment can lift in excess of 150 tons and handle virtually anything, including odd-shaped objects.

F. Barkow Inc. offers stone carriers mounted approximately 18 in. off the ground for loading or unloading stone onto a dolly. Stone is firmly secured, and construction consists of 1½- by 1½-in. square structural tube framework, including removable stakes. The most common size for a carrier is 120 in. long by 72 in. high, although the equipment is made to the customer’s specification. Standard 5-in. useable ledge board allows up to four 1¼-in. pieces of stone. No welding is required, and the payload should not exceed 1,000 lbs. per side.

JMR Industrial offers free-standing workstation bridge cranes, which can be installed on any normal 6-in. reinforced concrete floor and feature a pre-engineered, modular design. They are available in steel, aluminum and stainless steel, range in capacities from 250 to 4,000 lb., with spans up to 34 ft., and do not require the support columns be sunk into the floor. Both the aluminum and steel Gorbel Work Station Crane Systems use enclosed track. Long spans allow systems to be installed where support assemblies are infrequent, reducing the possibility of the columns interfering with the work cell layout. There are five sizes of track — 250, 500, 1,000, 2,000 and 4,000 Series. The cranes are installed so the runways are rigid and will not move laterally or longitudinally.
