Hot New Colors and Materials

With everyone settling into the new year and just coming off of the Solid Surface International Expo, a number of solid surface and engineered stone manufacturers have presented new products.

In an effort to keep fabricators informed, SolidSurface has compiled information on many of these new releases. Of course, we aren't able to include everything being done by everyone, but many of the players in the industry have shared with us, and we, in turn, are sharing it with you. So, sit back and prepare to be dazzled by the new offerings from our creative manufacturers.

Avonite Surfaces has introduced 36 new colors, expanding its Studio Collection and Foundations product offerings.

The Studio Collection line celebrates visionary colors, realistic textures, recycled products and rich groupings inspired by glass, concrete, precious metals and an eclectic array of natural materials. Eight new colors in this line bring the Studio Collection to a total of 54 colors. The new colors are Tusk, Amber, Ruby Glass, New Caldron, Cat Eye and Wasabi Shadow.

The Foundations line of acrylic surfaces circulate around earth tones and vivid accents, with comfortable, familiar colors and down-to-earth textures. Twenty-eight new colors bring the Foundations offering to a total of 51. Among the new colors are Infiniti, Painted Desert, Blue Moon, Good Earth Red, Red Rock, Meadow Grass and Dark Roast.

Caesarstone has updated its line of quartz surfaces to reflect the newest color trends. According to the company, plum, citrus and chocolate brown are the hottest colors for 2005. To complement these colors, seven new Caesarstone colors have become a permanent part of the 2005 collection: Black Noir, Gold Abyss, Misty Carrera, Lagos Blue, Copper Abyss, Coffee Bean and Jerusalem Sand.

Chemcor Industries has added eight new colors to its Dovae solid surface line, bringing the total to more than 90. The new colors make up the Onyx Series, a solid surface blend poured to give a deep translucence that resembles alabaster. It is available with different variations on color, vein size and vein subtleness.

In addition, the company has recently added its Ice Series, which are translucent, frosty colors, as well as its Fusion, Concrete and Terrastone series.

Cosentino will be offering a couple of new options for its Silestone quartz surfacing product in the coming months. In addition to a new grain leather finish it will be introducing in North America, the company will also be offering Silestone with Microban. Silestone has a 10-year exclusive contract with Microban International to include the Microban antimicrobial product, which deters the growth of bacteria that can cause stains, odors and product deterioration, in the makeup of some of its products. Silestone with Microban will be available in selected colors starting in the summer of 2005 in the makeup of some Silestone products.
