I thought I'd seen every weird solid surface problem out there but tonight takes the proverbial cake.
At the free standing stove opening, each end of the top had curled about 3/4". The plastic radio mounted to the upper cabinet has a melted side. Apparently the employees used the oven for a heating supplement when the owners of the group home put a lock on the thermostat. I guess they showed them!
The left side has no returned end, just raw underlayment sticking out and router marks, just like it did the day it was installed. Of course the obligatory burn marks and cracks are there.
For color match, I'm going to sacrifice the existing island to replace the burned, cracked and "thermoformed" ends and build a new island. I'm trying to keep the repairs equal to the cost of a tear-out and plastic laminate replacement.
