I am posting this under repairs, because I was rushing to fix a last minute mistake I made on a door. Knowing my customer was on his way to my shop, I was rushing to redo a door with incorrect handle holes, before he arrived, BIG MISTAKE!!! I was not really paying attention to what I was doing. The end result, I had a major encounter with a High ATB Melamine blade. I made the same mistake 12 years ago with my right Thumb, this time it is my Left. Do we really learn from our mistakes, or do we forget about them with the passing of time?

Are you ok Dani? That looks pretty serious.

Thanks for the reminder.

Dani:

That's no good, but somehow I was expecting much worse.

I doubt I could get any of the twenty-six-year old pictures of my ribbonized left index, middle and ring finger, courtesy of a dado blade and inexperience. I saw them on a follow-up visit and they buckled my knees.

Unlike your wife, girlfriend, or traffic cop, machinery dosen't negotiate. If you break the rule, you pay instantly and for life.

I hope associating the picture of the injury with the guy you know brings it home to viewers. In the words of my 70-year-old-still-had-all-his-fingers cabinetmaking mentor Ray Marsh:

"Keep your fingers out of the f%^&$#g machines!",
