Accidents and mistakes happen every day all over the country. E-stone top damage from fabricator error. With a top like this one, a fabricator only has a few choices. Throw the top in the dumpster, and refab a new top and hope it doesn’t happen again, losing the cost of the material and fabrication of a second top, or deliver it to the customer and hope it is in an area where the damage won’t be seen.
This top did get delivered and the customer did see the damage and was very unhappy. I went to look at the job and the customer told me that someone came in and worked for a couple of hours trying to fix the top and that didn’t work, he also told the customer that it couldn’t be fix. This made it very difficult for me to convince a very unhappy customer that I could fix the top 100% and grantee they would be happy.
Here are a few photos of the damage that was around the entire Island. I had to refinish the outside perimeter all away around the Island and match the factory finish on the rest of the top.
By the way, the customer signed a sheet that said I am 100% satisfied with the finish on my counter top.
