What is your best method of supporting bar overhangs without huge, unsightly corbels? Anyone tried a honeycomb substrate, cantilevered out?

Len we use aluminum bar stock as invisible bar supports. In between the bar stock we glue in White melamine. I don't think the honey comb will be strong enough on its own. Plus it looks and feels ugly

This is a little off subject, but what is the maximum length of solid surface that can be used for an unsupported overhang? I know it's 10 in. for granite, but am unsure on ss.

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

I think generally it's 6".

Len

Jon....do you have a picture of the aluminum/melamine?

Len, would you say that is true of 3cm material also?

Nope. That applies to 1/2" unsupported solid surface only.

Kevin

3cm allows 12" unsupported.

Thanks, Gordon. Is that simply a product of the increased thickness or are there other reasons?
